Megan Meier Case

I'm curious to see how this case unfolds. If you are unfamiliar with the case, I suggest reading around to get the full scoop. For the lazy and trustworthy:

Some 13 year old girls were having some major drama. A mother of one of the girls (Lori Drew) took part in creating a false myspace account ("16 year old Josh") to first woo one of the girls (Megan Meier) and then to hurt her. Meier, who has a history of depression, hanged herself after "Josh's" messages became bitter to the point of saying the world would be better without her. Drew's lawyer has recently said the charges should be dropped because if she is guilty, then so are millions of Internet users every day.

There are so many issues with this case. I hope it gets strong coverage- and not through crummy Hallmark-esq videos. Meier was rightfully mourned by the media. But now the focus needs to grow and stir discussions on what we do now. What laws and ethics apply to new media? What rights do we still have with these advances in technology? Are we responsible for our e-actions? Why do such morons get to be parents?
